Revenge

“Frozen Drop” - Cheryl Eichman

Revenge

The Prince of Darkness is raging.

How did this happen? He’d been ready on every front for violent outbreaks.

But a Baby in a willing womb?

What a stealthy sortie. Despicable.

He screams and tears his robes.

How he hates the Mother of Life, his ancient enemy.

He should have seen it, he could have defeated her, the foretelling is clear to him now.

Women are anathema.

Because of her.

I’ll make them suffer, he vows.

They’ll loathe femininity. Try to hide it. See it as weakness. Because of her.

They’ll scorn motherhood. Try to avoid it. See it as worthless. Because of her.

They’ll devalue babies. Try to abolish them. See them as losses. Because of her.

He grinds his teeth in fury.

There she is, sustaining Life, cradling Light and Love in her mighty arms.
